Returns and exchanges: deadlines, conditions and the procedure
Terms of purchase
Returns and exchanges
Two different situations are covered here: you changed your mind and want to send back a working miner, or the miner arrived faulty and does not perform as it should. The rules differ, which is why they live in separate sections.
In short
- A private buyer can withdraw from the purchase within 14 days of delivery without giving any reason. Return shipping in that case is paid by the buyer.
- Companies and sole traders have no right of withdrawal; the law says so plainly. What remains for them is the manufacturer warranty and our repair terms.
- If the miner is faulty the timeline is different: the seller is liable for lack of conformity for 3 years from delivery. Shipping under warranty and for faulty goods is on us.
- We repair ASICs ourselves, at the workshop in Valencia. No need to send the miner to Asia and wait for months.
- We accept miners with signs of use, but on a withdrawal we deduct the value they lost.
- ASIC prices track the coin rate and network difficulty and move several times a day. On a lawful withdrawal or a faulty unit that risk is ours and you get back what you paid. On a voluntary buy-back or a swap we price at the market on the day.
- The withdrawal form is at the bottom of this page; copying it into an email is enough.
Withdrawal within 14 days
This is the consumer right set out in the EU consumer rights directive. It works without explanations: the miner is louder than you expected, you changed your mind, you found it cheaper elsewhere. The reason is none of our business. What matters is who bought it and what condition it comes back in.
| Who bought it | Right to withdraw within 14 days |
|---|---|
| Private individual, purchase outside a trade | Yes. The clock starts the day you or the person you named received the parcel. For orders delivered in several parts, from the day the last one arrived. |
| Company or sole trader | No. The law grants withdrawal to consumers only. What remains is the manufacturer warranty, the statutory warranty between traders, and our repair terms. |
The table scrolls horizontally.
The condition we accept it in
- The miner must come back in a state that allows us to check it and sell it on. Powering it up, listening to it and running it on the bench is fine: the law expressly allows you to handle goods as you would in a shop.
- The factory box, brackets, PSU and cables come back with the miner. Without packaging no carrier will take 15 kg of metal and heatsinks.
- Seals, both the factory ones and ours, and the serial number label intact. A broken seal closes the manufacturer warranty and the unit loses value immediately.
- Roll the firmware back to stock. How to do that is in the warranty section.
If goods come back in worse condition than they left, we deduct the amount of value they lost. There is no flat percentage: we inspect the miner, do the maths and send you the calculation with photos. The usual reasons are heatsinks packed with dust after a month in a farm, thermal paste smeared on the case, or a PSU that did not come back. A couple of hours of bench testing costs you nothing.
How to return goods
The procedure is the same for a withdrawal and for a fault. The only differences are who pays for return shipping and what we do with the miner afterwards.
- Message us at admin@asic.es or on Telegram. For a withdrawal, copy the form at the bottom of this page; for a fault, describe the symptom and attach photos or a video.
- We reply during working hours and tell you where and with whom to ship. For faults and warranty cases we send the carrier label, so shipping costs you nothing.
- Pack the miner in its factory box and that box inside a shipping carton with cushioning. The PSU and cables go with it.
- Send it to Avda. d'Espioca, 183, 46440 Silla, València and give us the tracking number.
- We receive the parcel, inspect it, test it on the bench if there is a fault, and tell you the outcome: repair, replacement or refund.
We handle a swap as a return plus a new order: that way you see both amounts and the price difference instead of guessing what was offset against what. Both units are valued at the market on the day of the swap; the details are in the section on pricing for returns and swaps.
Faults and the legal warranty
If the miner does not perform as it should, this is not a change-of-mind return but a different case with different deadlines. The seller answers for it, meaning us, not a factory in China.
- For private buyers in Spain the seller is liable for lack of conformity for 3 years from delivery. For the first 2 years the burden of proof is on us: the defect is presumed to have been there from the start until we show otherwise.
- You can report a lack of conformity within 2 months of noticing it. Do not sit on it: the sooner you tell us, the easier it is to tie the failure to a factory defect.
- You choose first between repair and replacement. If neither works out or takes an unreasonably long time, you can ask for a price reduction or to cancel the contract.
- Shipping both ways under warranty and for faulty goods is paid by us.
- For companies and sole traders the manufacturer warranty and the statutory warranty between traders apply, with shorter periods. Our repair terms are the same.
A miner that arrives dead or with an obvious defect out of the box is not a warranty case in the usual sense but a lack of conformity on delivery. Message us straight away, before trying to fix it yourself.
Manufacturer warranty
This is a separate commercial warranty from the factory and it does not replace the legal one. Manufacturers set the terms themselves, publish them only in part, and change them from batch to batch. Below is what is officially stated as of this update. We open and run the claim with the manufacturer for you, including the correspondence and shipping the part.
| Brand | Official period | What to watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Bitmain (Antminer) | Depends on model and batch | The claim must be opened before the period ends, not after. The faulty part ships within 7 days of opening the claim or it gets closed. We check the exact period for your miner by serial number. |
| Canaan (Avalon) | 360 days | In the manufacturer terms the period runs from the shipping date. A PSU bought separately has no warranty at all: defects are only accepted within 3 days of delivery. |
| Bitdeer | 365 days | Product pages count from shipping, the contract counts from delivery. With long logistics that gap matters, so we put the term in writing. |
| IceRiver | 180 days from shipping | The manufacturer serves only the first direct buyer. On resale the responsibility passes to the seller. There is no service centre in the EU at all. |
| Goldshell | 180 days | The start date is described two ways in the manufacturer documents: from shipping in the terms, from receipt in the service policy. |
The table scrolls horizontally.
For other brands we confirm the period before shipping, by serial number. Common to all of them: shipping to the manufacturer service is at the buyer cost, the return leg at the manufacturer cost. That is exactly why buying from a seller inside the EU changes the picture so much: instead of sending the miner to Asia, you bring it to us in Valencia.
Third-party firmware is on almost every manufacturer list of things that void the warranty. It is reversible: before making a claim the ASIC is rolled back to the stock build. With some brands traces of the installation stay in the miner's memory and the factory may point at them. Overclocking and running outside rated modes void the warranty everywhere, without exception.
What is not a warranty case
The list is nearly identical across manufacturers and we apply it the same way. It is not about formalities: every item is a specific failure you can see on the board once it is open.
- Water, condensation, corrosion. Recognisable by the oxide and the tell-tale staining; a board like that rarely comes back.
- Dust and dirt to the point of overheating. Clogged heatsinks are not a factory defect but maintenance that never happened.
- DIY soldering and tampering with the board. Lifted pads under the chips show up at once.
- Physical damage, drop marks, bent heatsinks.
- Broken seals or a damaged serial number label.
- Overclocking and running outside rated modes, including on third-party firmware.
- A non-original or underpowered PSU; with some brands this is a separate clause.
- Hash boards from different models or revisions mixed in one miner.
- Voltage spikes and phase imbalance on your side. They kill power supplies faster than years of running do.
If an inspection or teardown shows broken factory seals or our own seals, traces of liquid, signs of heavy physical damage, overclocking, third-party software or use outside the operating rules, the warranty claim may be refused. A refusal always comes with reasons: we show you what we found and how it relates to the failure.
Disputed cases happen and we do not brush them aside. If our diagnosis and your view differ, we send photos of the board and the measurements so you see what we see.
Repairs at our workshop
We repair ASICs ourselves rather than forwarding them on. The workshop is in Valencia and has a test bench with a known-good control board and PSU, a thermal camera and a soldering station with bottom preheating. After a repair the miner always goes through a load run: a short test misses the faults that surface on a hot board a few hours in.
- DiagnosticsOne to several working days
- Typical hash board repairSeveral days
- Rare revision or scarce chipThe longest; we quote a date after diagnostics
Warranty repair is free, shipping both ways included. Anything outside warranty is quoted after diagnostics and we do not start until you approve the amount. If a repair gets close to the price of the same miner on the second-hand market, we will say so plainly instead of quietly sending an invoice.
Pricing on returns and swaps
An ASIC is not a fridge with a price that holds for a year. Its value rests on the coin rate and network difficulty, and both move every day. The price of one and the same model can shift several times within a day, up as well as down: a jump in the rate or a difficulty adjustment changes profitability at once, and the second-hand price follows.
Hence the question we get most often: which price is used to work out the money on a return. It depends on the grounds you are returning on, and it cannot be the same in every case.
| Grounds | Price we use |
|---|---|
| Withdrawal within 14 days, private buyer | The price on your order. The coin rate and difficulty do not affect that amount: a market drop over two weeks is our risk, not yours. Only the deduction for condition and wear comes off, if the unit came back worse than it left. |
| Faulty goods or lack of conformity | The order price in full. Neither the market nor wear matters here: the goods were not what you paid for in the first place. |
| Voluntary buy-back: a return after 14 days, or a return from a company | At the market price on the day of the return, taking technical condition and wear into account. The law gives no right to such a return, neither to a private buyer after 14 days nor to a company; we do it by agreement, which is why the price is the market one and not the figure on an old invoice. |
| Swap for another ASIC | At the market price of both units on the day of the swap, with the condition of each. You either pay the difference or get it back. |
The table scrolls horizontally.
How a swap works
A swap can be for an equivalent model or any other one we have in stock; there is no restriction there. We value your ASIC after diagnostics, look up the price of the model you picked on the same day, and show you both figures. Then you decide: pay the difference, take it back, or drop the swap if the valuation does not suit you.
A valuation holds for the day it was made. If you come back to it a week later we recalculate: in a week the rate, the difficulty and the price of the model itself may all have moved.
Not by eye. We take prices for that model from European sellers and the second-hand market, check current profitability at your electricity price, and subtract condition: hours run, the state of fans and heatsinks, traces of repair, and the result of the load run. We send the whole calculation with figures and photos so you can see what it is built from. If you disagree with the valuation, the swap or buy-back simply does not happen: it is a voluntary deal on both sides.
Refunds
We refund after we have the miner back and have inspected it. The law gives 14 days from when we received the goods or your proof of dispatch.
- We refund by the same method you paid with. A SEPA transfer goes back to the sending account and a card payment is reversed through the same Redsys gateway.
- Crypto payments are refunded in the same coin and network. The coin amount is calculated at the rate on the day of the refund, so in euros it may differ from what you paid. The network fee is deducted from the transfer.
- On a withdrawal we refund the price of the goods and the standard delivery cost to you. If you chose a delivery option more expensive than standard, the difference is not refunded; the law says so directly.
- For faulty goods we refund everything, including shipping both ways.
- Any deduction for lost value comes off the total, and we send you the calculation.
If you return one item from a multi-item order, delivery is not refunded: the parcel travelled either way. We refund the price of that item and recalculate VAT on a credit note.
Withdrawal form
Copy the text into an email to admin@asic.es, fill it in and send it. The form is not mandatory: you can write in your own words, as long as it is clear what you are withdrawing from. The date you send the email is the date of withdrawal, so the 14 days are counted from it and not from the day the parcel reaches us.
To: ASIC MINER S.L.U, Calle Poeta Jose Espronceda, 21, puerta 1, 46900 Torrent (Valencia), Spain. Email: admin@asic.es I hereby give notice that I withdraw from the contract of sale of the following goods: Goods (model, serial number): ________________________________ Order number: ________________________________________________ Order date: __________ Date received: _______________________ Name of buyer: _______________________________________________ Address of buyer: ____________________________________________ Account or wallet for the refund: ____________________________ Date: __________ Signature (only if sent on paper): __________
The form follows the model in Annex I(B) of Directive 2011/83/EU.
Still have questions?
Message us before you ship the miner. Half of all returns are settled in writing: some faults are fixed with a setting or a replacement PSU, and hauling an ASIC across the country for that makes no sense.
