How to use

In the dropdown, pick your miner model and the right file type, or use the search by file name. There are three types:

web-update (.bmu)Firmware installed directly through the miner web interface, the Upgrade tab. The simplest way to update.
web-update (.gz)A full firmware archive in .tar.gz format. Installed the same way, through the web interface, the Upgrade tab.
SD imageAn image to write to a memory card. Restores the control board when the web interface is unavailable.

On Amlogic boards with stock from September 2025, the SD rollback may be blocked; in that case first do the AML unlock. If the miner does not flash or shows errors, check the logs and errors. After a rollback you can install custom firmware with HashCore Toolkit.

How to flash an SD image on Antminer

Before you start, make sure you have prepared a suitable memory card and tools.

  1. Prepare the SD card.
    • Use a MicroSD card from 2 to 16 GB.
    • Format it to the FAT32 file system.
    • If the control board uses an Amlogic processor, use a regular USB flash drive with an OTG adapter instead of MicroSD.
  2. Download and unpack the files.
    • Pick your model in the catalog above on this page and download the recovery image (SD image).
    • Unpack the archive: the root of the card should contain files like uImage, u-boot.img or an SD_image folder (depends on the model).
  3. Flashing.
    • Fully power off the miner (disconnect all power cables).
    • Insert the prepared card or flash drive into the slot on the control board.
    • Apply power. The indicators near the Ethernet port will start blinking; flashing takes 1 to 3 minutes.
    • Flashing is done when the green LED lights up steadily and no longer goes out.
  4. Finishing up.
    • Disconnect the power and carefully remove the card.
    • Power the miner on again and wait for it to boot and get an IP address.
    • Open the miner web interface (find the IP with Bitmain IP Reporter or in your router).
    • On the Upgrade tab, uncheck "Keep settings" and flash the current base firmware in .tar.gz format to restore the system settings.

Below is a visual example of the flashing process to help you get familiar with the interface and the indicators:

FAQ

How do I restore factory firmware on a Bitmain Antminer?
Download the stock firmware or SD image for your model from the catalog on this page and install it: web-update (.bmu, .gz) files are flashed through the miner web interface (Upgrade tab), while an SD image is written to a memory card.
What is the difference between web-update (.bmu, .gz) and an SD image?
The web-update files (.bmu and .gz) are installed directly through the miner web interface, the Upgrade tab. An SD image is written to a memory card and restores the control board when the web interface is unavailable.
Where can I download an SD image for the Antminer S19 or S21?
Pick the model you need in the catalog dropdown on this page or find the file with the search, then download the SD image.
How do I flash an SD image on an Antminer?
Prepare a MicroSD card of 2-16 GB in FAT32, unpack the image to the root of the card, insert it into the powered-off miner and apply power. Flashing takes 1-3 minutes and finishes when the green LED lights up steadily.
What if the SD rollback is blocked?
On Amlogic boards with stock from September 2025 the rollback may be blocked. First do the AML unlock, then flash the SD image.
Which file type should I choose for my model?
If the miner boots and the web interface opens, use web-update (.bmu or .gz). If the control board does not respond or you need recovery, use an SD image.
