Status bar: the first place to look
The narrow strip at the bottom of the screen shows what the ASIC is doing right now. Faster than any widget.

The letters alpha and beta in the version number mean a test build. Keep stable versions on the working fleet and try test ones on a single ASIC.
Statuses and what stands behind them
- Mining. Normal operation, shares are going to the pool.
- Initialization. The ASIC brings up the boards and polls the chips and sensors. It takes up to a few minutes, and on some models the cooling stage is fixed at 120 seconds. If the status hangs there longer than ten minutes, open the logs: usually one of the hash boards or the temperature sensors is to blame.
- Autotuning. The firmware is picking frequencies and voltages per chip. It takes 3 to 5 hours, hashrate jumps around during that, and it is normal.
- Stopped. Mining is halted: by hand, on critical temperature or by the protection after an error.

What uptime tells you
An uptime of several tens of days means the ASIC has not rebooted and has not fallen over. An uptime that reset while you did nothing is a reason to open the logs and see what happened overnight. A common cause: the critical temperature protection fired, or the mains sagged.
